Kitchen Cabinet Painting in Charlotte, NC
Stained, painted or raw-wood kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities - cleaned, sanded, primed and painted to a smooth, hard finish. Wall cabinets, base cabinets or the whole kitchen.
What kitchen cabinet painting looks like with us
Cabinet painting is the most-reviewed job on A Touch of a Brush's Thumbtack profile: oak, honey and espresso-stained kitchens taken to white, cream or a darker color, plus bathroom vanities to match. Albert explains the different ways cabinets can be painted, which paint he uses and why, before you decide - one customer said it "helped me make a more educated decision." Floors and counters are protected, the work area is cleaned every day, and the doors go back on when the finish is ready.
What’s included
Why cabinet paint fails - and how to avoid it
Almost every peeling cabinet job comes down to one of these:
- Grease. Kitchen cabinets carry years of cooking residue, and paint will not bond to it. Cleaning comes first.
- Gloss. Factory and stained finishes are slick. They have to be sanded and primed with a bonding primer.
- The wrong paint. Cabinets need a hard, durable enamel, not wall paint. Albert talks you through the options.
- Rushing the cure. Paint feels dry long before it is hard. Doors go back on only when they are ready to be handled.
What can and can't be painted
Solid wood and wood-veneer cabinets - stained, already painted, or never finished - all take paint well once they are prepped. Laminate and thermofoil fronts are a different story, and A Touch of a Brush does not paint them. Cabinet boxes can be painted on their own, too: one customer had the boxes done to match new doors.
Bathroom vanities and built-ins
The same process works for bathroom vanities, laundry cabinets and built-ins. Several customers had the kitchen and the bathrooms done together, so everything matches.
After a flood or water damage
Cabinets that took on water but are still structurally sound can often be repainted rather than replaced. One customer on Albert's old website had her kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities repainted after flooding from Hurricane Helene.
